Wide-Band Voice Encryption Unit (WBE l)
This device performs high security voice encryption. It is best suited for radio communication using UHF/VHF/FM and WIDE BAND AM Transceivers in Half Doublex Operation. The voice signal from the microphone is converted into a digital signal by sampling at a high rate. The bandwidth of the transceiver should therefore be high. The digital signal is subsequently ciphered on a bit-by-bit basis to achieve a highly secure encoding. The encoded signal is then fed to the transmitter. The internal key is stored in a PROM which can be programmed by the user. At the receive end a similar unit performs the decoding and feeds the clear voice signal to the operator. The design utilizes state-of-the-art digital integrated electronics to achieve a sophisticated and secure modern device. Due to the large number of possible keys available in the ciphering process, it is virtually impossible to compromise the code even with the aid of parallel high speed computers.

Further development of the current encryption unit includes full backwards system compatibility, FPGA technology, and remarkable reduction in size, weight and power consumption.

Digital Message Device
"HERMES"

The HAI's Digital Message Device (DMD) is a latest product based on the Company's considerable experience in the design and manufacturing of digital communication systems, for the support of the Armed Forces operational needs.

The DMD user can create, store and transmit digitized messages through radio links and telephone lines.

The DMD together with the Fire Control System PYTHAGORAS & the Hand Held Laser Range Finder LRF-II products form a modern integrated field artillery.

Additionally the unit can be connected to PC and computer printers via an RS-232 bus. Technology wise the HERMES is based on the 80C31 micro-controller and has been designed to meet the MIL-STD-810C and MIL-STD-461B requirements. The unit is able to communicate with the redesigned fire control system. Due to its flexible design concept the DMD unit can be utilized by all sections of armed forces, cost guard and police departments. In these last applications the DMD unit can be also utilized as integrator of communication and data elements.

Message Reception & Handling

The DMD can be used to transmit and receive messages in encrypted and decrypted form. The unit utilizes an effective error detection and correction code in order to increase its reliability performance. Messages can also be fed directly to computer systems via the RS-232 interface bus. The user can develop a network of 99 subscribers with each one having his own ID number. The unit transmission mode possesses the ability to transmit the messages selectively from 1 to 5 preselected subscribers or to the total number of 99 subscribers.
