| This device
performs high security voice encryption. It is
best suited for radio communication using
UHF/VHF/FM and WIDE BAND AM Transceivers in Half Doublex
Operation. The voice signal from the
microphone is converted into a digital signal by
sampling at a high rate. The bandwidth of the
transceiver should therefore be high. The digital
signal is subsequently ciphered on a bit-by-bit
basis to achieve a highly secure encoding. The
encoded signal is then fed to the transmitter. The
internal key is stored in a PROM which can be
programmed by the user. At the receive end a
similar unit performs the decoding and feeds the
clear voice signal to the operator. The design
utilizes state-of-the-art digital integrated
electronics to achieve a sophisticated and
secure modern device. Due to the large number of
possible keys available in the ciphering process, it is virtually impossible to compromise
the code even with the aid of parallel high speed
computers. |

Further
development of the current encryption unit
includes full backwards system compatibility,
FPGA technology, and remarkable reduction in size, weight and power consumption.
