Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation (SAC) announced that they signed recently a new agreement, according to which HAI is undertaking the manufacturing and assembly of BLACK HAWK helicopter (versions L, S and M) side panels for the period 2008-2013. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
This agreement was signed by HAI’s CEO Mr. Tassos Philipakos and by Amy Johnson, Sikorsky’s Director of Supply Management.
The value of this agreement for the six-year period is $11 million USD with the provision for additional workload and prospect for extension beyond 2013.
Sikorsky’s intention is to make HAI a Center of Excellence for all models of BLACK HAWK helicopter side panels.  This is in line with HAI’s strategy to be a center of excellence for a specified range of major subassemblies as it is already for the F-16 fighter aircraft.
BLACK HAWK helicopters are already posting significant sales, which are expected to rise further in the near future.
Mr. Philippakos, HAI’s CEO, stated, “This business is in line with HAI’s strategy to expand its presence in the international market by establishing important long-term business relationships with global market leaders such as Sikorsky.” 

Johnson, Director of Supply Management, stated that, “With the side panel business, HAI has become a long term member of the Sikorsky team.”
