07-04-2008 : Hellenic Aerospace Industry, Boeing Sign Memorandum of Understanding

TANAGRA – On 7 April 2009, Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) and The Boeing Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding that outlines potential areas of industrial collaboration between the two companies by identifying fields of interrelated expertise and technical capabilities.

This strategic alliance between the two companies sets forth potential opportunities of cooperation between HAI and Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems business, including depot-level maintenance of rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, such as avionics and accessories; aircraft upgrades; metal and composites aerostructures; wiring and wire harness manufacturing; maintenance training for rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, performance-based logistics.

HAI Chief Executive Officer Tassos Philippakos said the MOU constitutes an important bridge of cooperation between the two companies.  “This MOU is in line with HAI’s strategy to establish long-term business relationships with global market leaders such as Boeing,” Philippakos said.

HAI stands to benefit from Boeing’s capabilities associated with the design, engineering, manufacturing, upgrading and repair of military helicopters and fighter aircraft. Boeing could benefit from HAI’s engagement in the provision of training services; its certification as an approved European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 147 Training Center; its experience in metal and composite aerostructures; its strength in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft and helicopters; and its electronics manufacturing capabilities.

Signing the MOU with Philippakos was Boeing Vice President of International Business Development Mark Kronenberg.  “Boeing wants to bring together the best of industry from around the world to make our products and services more affordable and more capable,” Kronenberg said. “HAI is just such a partner.”
